It tells the story of a young man, Peer Gynt, and his adventures as he travels around the world. Throughout his journey, Peer encounters many colorful and sometimes frightening creatures with which he has various encounters that are either comic or grotesque.The book was originally intended to be an adventure story for children but Ibsen later changed his mind after much feedback from friends and critics who felt it was too dark for children.
